About me
Marisa Oliva-Rodriguez serves as the Rio Grande Valley Health and Nature Liaison for the Texas Children in Nature and Network. She previously managed the Edinburg Scenic Wetlands and World Birding Center, helping to establish it as one of the premier environmental education sites in the Rio Grande Valley. She has spent her career helping to connect children and families to nature, with a special focus on communities of color, and is especially proud of creating programs and opportunities that have helped young people find careers in the environmental and natural resource fields. Oliva-Rodriguez has a Masters of Forest Resources with an Emphasis in Wildlife Ecology from The Pennsylvania State University and a Bachelor's of Science in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Texas A&M University. She has served as the regional coordinator of Texas Children in Nature for the Rio Grande Valley and as President, Co-Educator, and board member of two local Texas Master Naturalist Chapters. Oliva-Rodriguez and husband Roy are raising two budding naturalists, helping them discover their own love for the birds, wildlife, and the outdoors through family outings and camping trips.
