About me
Asuncion Sanchez, a Houston, Texas native and recent high school graduate holds a deep-rooted connection to nature. This bond was cultivated by his grandfather, a traditional farmer in Mexico. His grandfather introduced him to the wonder of the natural world through gardening, sowing seeds of love for nature in his grandson. This introduction was the start of a lifelong appreciation of the natural world. Asuncion's love for nature has evolved into a defining feature of his life, propelling him toward new and exciting paths.
These paths have led him to help in the creation and leadership of a new school gardening project, becoming a founding member of the Healthy Outdoor Communities Youth Leadership Council, and serving as a leadership team member of Houston's Highland Park Community Garden which he also helped construct. He and a classmate were the only high school students selected to host a session at the 2023 TCiNN annual conference, and he now earns part-time income as an outdoor event and activity leader with NEO (Nature & Eclectic Outdoors) assisting youth and families learn new outdoor skills and inspiring them to develop their own relationships with nature.
