About me
Jessica Gordon is an educator for the City of Austin Watershed Protection Department. Her work involves teaching about aquifers, watersheds, and how our actions affect water quality. Her program for middle school students, Watershed Detectives, recently received a Groundwater Stewardship Award for Education from the Barton Springs Edwards Aquifer Conservation District for successfully engaging middle school students in learning about water quality issues and inspiring environmental stewards. She is passionate about outdoor environmental education and has more than ten years of experience leading Earth and Environmental Science field investigations. Jessica earned two graduate degrees from the University of Texas: one in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Education and the other in Geography and the Environment. She has previously worked with a number of innovative programs, including UTeach (Knowing and Learning and Project Based Instruction), the Environmental Science Institute, and GeoFORCE Texas. Jessica enjoys outdoor adventures with her family.
